About Wayra

In the 90s, the Andean music was flourishing in the streets of Europe. Groups from all over the Andes were busking in pedestrian zones and on busy squares. Otavalo was a breeding ground for many musicians who found their way to far countries and spread their music all over the world. Wayra was one of them.

"It was a time of freedom and openness. We could play almost everywhere without license. In Poland, people were especially generous. We slept in hotels and ate in restaurants."

Wayra spent 6 years travelling and busking in countless cities of Europe and Central America. Finally, he settled in his home town Otavalo, to become what he now is: an instrument maker with already more than 25 years of experience.
